International knowledge, local expertise – Micron Technologies operates in Israel through its Fab12 facility in Kiryat Gat. The Israeli fab, considered one of the world leaders in semiconductors, is equipped with the most sophisticated and advanced instrumentation for this purpose. It specializes in the mass-production of Flash memory chips using advanced technology, as well as in R&D. In 1999, the facility (as an Intel fab) began production with 180 nm logic technology, went on to manufacture 90 nm NOR Flash memory, and subsequently mass-produced Flash memory chips with 65 nm and 45 nm technology, after formal consent is received to manufacture this advanced technology. Since its establishment in 1999, $2.5 billion has been invested in Fab12 (formerly Fab18), with exports totaling $325 million in 2011.Micron Israel employs 1500 workers, including engineers, exact sciences graduates, economists, computer science graduates, practical engineers and technicians, as well as 1000 external workers.
Vision – Micron Inc., backed by its extensive professional legacy, financial strength, long-standing quality and technological leadership, is a new and leading player in the Israeli high-tech arena, breaking into the local market through Fab12 with its acquisition of Numonyx in 2010. Its broad range of technologies and leading products gives Micron a unique edge and flexibility to respond to customer needs: innovative memory solutions that achieve the right balance between density, performance, output power and costs in a computing and online world. Micron Israel has a key role to play in Micron Inc, which, since making the acquisition in 2010, has invested tens of millions of dollars in expanding the manufacturing capacity and operations of the fabrication facility in Kiryat Gat. Today, Fab12 is considered the world leader in the mass production of NOR Flash memory chips. Micron Israel plans to continue to invest in manufacturing technologies and in R&D in order to preserve its standing as the world's leading fabrication facility. Micron Israel considers itself an integral part of its geographic surroundings and of the community in which it operates, and is committed to continue fostering close ties with the community, and to serving as a magnet for top notch personnel in the Negev.
Our employees are our most important asset! – Recognizing that employees are the company's most significant asset, Micron Israel invests considerable resources in its personnel, placing suitable tools at its employees' disposable for their professional development, as well as their personal development and maintaining a balance between work and family life. The Micron work environment is built around an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration that permeates the company, while providing room for personal initiative, creativity and leadership. The worker as a person and as a company employee stands at the very heart of Micron Israel's human resources policy. We believe that personal success and professional self-actualization make employees more contented and happier people in their private lives as well. We therefore developed a work environment together with our employees that meets their diverse needs.
Creating fond memories with the community – Micron Israel attaches great importance to activities in the community, and employees are involved in a hands-on way. Employees volunteer in several community projects centered in the town of Kiryat Gat. Over the past two years, Micron has adopted a variety of groups in order to work for long-term changes that advance the needs of those groups, in collaboration with the local community. Micron believes that the added value from activity in the community applies not only to the population that we work with, but also to the company as a whole, and to its employees in particular. The activity strengthens employee motivation and sense of pride, reinforces their sense of loyalty, identification with and commitment to the workplace, and of course, helps build teamwork and promote team bonding. In 2012, Micron Israel will continue to develop and implement community programs, be attentive to the needs of the town and the residents in the surrounding areas, and create fond memories with the community! Our approach to managing the environment: personal responsibility at home and in the workplace. Micron Israel assumes responsibility for what happens in the vicinity of its centers of activity, and on that basis, has developed an environmental policy that constantly checks Micron's ecological footprint based on the processes and products manufactured at the fab. Based on the findings concerning the impact of different aspects of Micron's activity on the environment, the company, every year, takes upon itself to define its environmental protection goals. For every process in the company's product manufacturing system, goals are defined in terms of consumption of natural resources (water), chemicals, creation and separation of waste, and reduction and monitoring of the level of wastewater and emissions released into the environment. Management's responsibility for application of the environmental philosophy constitutes an integral part of Micron's business activity, and to this end, binding principles have been defined according to which the fab operates in the area of environmental responsibility.
